Stephen has the German and French citizenship. After completing his voluntary service with street children in South Africa, he studied history and communication sciences at the Free University of Berlin. After finishing his studies, he worked with Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion, a production company in Cologne, on various history projects which the company produced for public television channels in Germany and the German-French channel ARTE. Most recently, he worked as a junior producer on a documentary about the Vietnam War for the channels ARD and ARTE.
