Cosima Lange was born in Hamburg in 1976. After various internships and assistantships in the film industry, she studied ‘Production’ at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg from 1998 to 2003. During her studies, she focussed on creative producing. She made numerous short films as well as the romantic science fiction thriller VAKUUM in co-production with hr & SWR.

 

In 2005, together with Nina Klingen, she founded ‘fliegende fische filmproduktion’ (today: ‘fliegende fische creative pool’) and realised her debut documentary CHAMAMÉ - an intimate portrait of four Argentinian musicians in north-eastern Argentina. Since then, she has worked as a writer, director and producer for documentaries and feature films.  She is currently developing the feature film A DAY WITH MR. JULES (writer, director). Between 2003 and 2016, Cosima Lange worked for ten years as a project supervisor and line producer for ARTE shortfilm production as part of the Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

 

Since 2018, she has led an annual two-week international film course at the Summer School at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF with Jean Boué. In addition, she regularly gives film seminars at various organisations and works in the selection committee at international film festivals.

 

Cosima Lange has been an academic staff member and lecturer for "Film and Television Production“ studies at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF since October 2020. She is a member of the AG DOK and a participant in the EAVE Producers Programme and ESODoc/India (Zelig Film School).
