The Western Front, Christmas 1914: the German Reich’s troops face the enemy forces in relentless trench warfare. The trenches are full of horrors. Soldiers on both sides are weary of killing. A German company waits in vain for supplies. They decide to barter with the French, swapping their cigarettes for food to avoid a hungry Christmas. They propose a ceasefire, lay down their weapons and meet the enemy in no-man’s-land. In the most God-forsaken place on the planet a miracle occurs – soldiers from warring nations celebrate Christmas together between the trenches.
